Forum Members,
I wanted to formally introduce Lucid Viewer to the 3D community and all visionaries interested in new tools. Lucid Viewer is a new immersive video engine built on the Adobe Flash architecture. It natively recognizes spherical video (.flv) and image content (.jpg and .png) developed in the standard, equirectangular format and permits standard pan and tilt navigation via a number of mouse modes. It works in conjunction with a configurable xml document to let your quickly assemble a collection of video and image scenes in a customized project. New to version 1.1 will be a new Object Compositing Engine which will allow you to add interactive objects (.swf, .jpg and .png) inside your 3D scene. Lucid Viewer will be available for purchase in mid April.
A demonstration of Lucid Viewer can be seen at http://www.lucid.it/viewer. This demonstration has a collection of 360 video samples, 3D compositing experiments and standard 360 photographs.
To Pan and Tilt, click and drag your mouse directly on the screen. The motion controls will permit you to play, pause and adjust zoom in addition to providing a timeline with adjustable playhead so you can scrub the video. After each file has loaded the red (-) will turn into a green (+). Clicking this button will give you access to both a mouse menu (from which you can choose different mouse modes) and a scene menu (which lets you load in a new scene).
A demonstration of the Compositing Engine ( and its accompanying GUI interface can be seen at http://www.lucid.it/lab
This demonstration has 4 existing objects already in place. You can turn on and off the TV, drag the clock (which displays the actual time) and also click on the sky image to switch between embedded textures. You can also add more objects by loading files directly into the scene. Try typing 'phone.png' into the File field in the GUI. This will load a new phone object. To move it in 3D space, just click and drag it. To pin it to a location, just double click it. You can also adjust the object's parameters by adjusting the sliders in the GUI's interface.
Thank you all for taking the time to check it out. We're just getting started, so feedback is highly appreciated.
