LumaKeys vary from comp to comp. First, you need to make sure you have the Alpha channel showing when adjusting the LumaKey node. Press "A" on the Keyboard while having your mouse over the viewer.
Next, you need to adjust the luma key to your satisfied adjustments, this maybe tricky depending on the shot. Usaually I will pull a Key of the sky in 3 or 4 differnet methods, depending on the plate. Then I will IAdd the keys to get one good matte that i will use for comp-ing.
A typical key might have 2 keys, one that grabs the core of the sky (meaning the whole areas) then another that gets the fine detail.
I can't go much further without seeing what your footage is like. Maybe upload 1 frame and I can make a shake script for you to poke at.

I am new to Shake and compositing in general. I purchased shake to do tracking and shot stabilization. This has been very succesfull. Truly amazing.
I would like to learn how to do a luminance key for a white sky replacement. The manual is not helping and a little bit of advice would be much appreciated.
The sky in my foreground is producing a very sharp alpha channel, however I am unsure how to construct the tree to get the desired results.
Thank you.
