I think manta is an internal project , created by the special project group .they've done it to debug the software with something that is close to a real production , I guess , and to deliver consistant demos .
Perhaps they don't have time today to finish the film.

why do you think they are hiding it in some ways ?
I saw a few finished shots (the landing of the ship in the snow is really nice)
some people like manta other hates her.
(I love the face close ups but not her body)

I think it's a great thing that people at softimage are testing the software in a production like env.
look at all the good stuffs coming from Olivier Ozoux or Michael Isner.

the special project group are moving to companies to help them start on challenging projects and it's a good thing.

I'd still like to see the work in its entirety, everything looks excellent except the fugly freshman 'my first character' look of manta which I would try to look past.

i love the look of manta. the characters simplicity is refreshing especially since it's design is nicely balanced.

a lot more could be done in this vein.

Manta was originally slated to be completed by last Siggraph if I recall. It's been a closely guarded secret for whatever reason.....I've seen snipets here and there...I just wish they give us a little more of a taste

I received an email from Jacob Varghese and he mentioned that Manta should be released next month.
