Matchmove Handles Broken?

No problem tracking 4 points for matchmoving. I am having a problem moving the handles in the viewer window. That is, I am following the totorial in Shake 4 on matchmoving(putting the sign on the truck). It seems to move three handles at a time! Is this normal behavior? I have tried the tutorial in Shake 3.5 and it works fine, I can resize my matchmoved imagery using single handles.

Can anyone confirm this bug! This behavior seems pretty significant to me. Not being able to crop an image seems like an important attribute for a 2-D application. Hmmm...is there anyone on this thing?

Sounds like user error.

I have experienced the same behavior. Annoying. I have to enter the coordinates by hand in the value fields.

This is user error. Your just looking at the image through the wrong node. So the controls come up funny.

Try this:
1. Make a ColorWheel
2. Add a crop to it
3. Bring up the original ColorWheel in the viewer(left side of the colorwheel node should be lit up)
4. Now select the controls for the Crop and try to edit them in the viewer(click on the right side of the CCrop node and should be lit up only, not the left side).

It's acting funny because your looking through the wrong node. User Error!

Sorry Beaker, but these guys are not referring to a crop node, they're referring to the corner handles inside the matchmove node. There is something definetely broken with this node in Shake 4, you won't find this behaviour in Shake 3.5.

Anyways, simple answer(what I should have posted in the first place). Don't use the Matchmove or the Tracker nodes they have been buggy forever(no idea why they keep them in there). Use the Stabilize node for everything. There is nothing it can't do that the others can and it isn't buggy.

Curious about the bugs in the tracker node. What bugs have you experienced? Ohter than sloppy redraw of the search regions i haven't encounterd any functional bugs.

Yes, the on-screen control points for the sourcePosition (FG mode) of MatchMove node will not move independently of each other. This bug was reported 10/12/05 to Apple. Peter Warner suggests using this alternative to the MatchMove node:

Stabilize
CornerPin
Stabilize (set to Match)

All 3 transforms will concatenate. I therefore use the CornerPin in the way you use the FG
toggle.

I have never used the matchmove node so i cant comment on it. However in my 4 years of experience using shake every day, I have never seen a bug with the tracker.

I always use expressions to link a stabilise node to one or more tracker nodes.
