$a = 4;
$b = 4;
matrix $c[$a][$b];
That doesn't seem to work (which is odd, since c has no problem with such a command)
Anybody know a way around this problem ?

Use this format:
int $a = 4;
int $b = 4;
string $declare = ( "matrix $c[" + $a + "][" + $b + "]" );
eval $declare;
