Max or maya, amd or pentium?

Two simple questions:
Max or Maya?
AMD or pentium?

I have a choice of a amd 1.8ghz or a pentium 1.2ghz what is better for 3d modelling???

And i have a choice of max or maya? I have learnt gmax but want to learn a bigger program that will get me somewhere in the future.

You have the choices? Then take the 1.8 GHz AMD processor and Maya.

Would a pentium 1.8 ghz be better than a amd 1.8 ghz?

The AMD is prolly faster, but I have, for example, chosen a P4 2GHz over an AMD 2 GHz for my new system because the P4 doesn't run nearly as hot as the AMD. My new system also uses several silencing techniques to keep the system noise at a minimum level, and the P4 was the better choice here because it doesn't run at its temperature limit.
