I'm running a PIII 600Mhz with 320 megs RAM, and an AGP Hercules 3D Prophet II MX with 32 megs RAM.
The system actually runs fast. I was quite surprised. Even faster than Win2K Pro, which was what I was running previously. RAM isn't the issue, or the speed of the computer either...honestly everything else runs really nice and smoothly. I disabled some of the more intensive graphic-GUI "features" of XP and it really is very nice. When I didn't update my driver, originally, Nendo and Maya just wouldn't open, giving me OpenGL errors. When I updated, Nendo works fine and smoothly - and quickly. But Maya just...lags. I think it is a driver issue, yeah. I'll have to check.
The only problem is that after I installed XP, I read in the readme file that you can't uninstall it. So either I upgrade to full XP and wait until then to try Maya once more (sighs) or I format C and reinstall Win2K. Either way, it's a pain in the ass since I need to get some work done....
If I could just uninstall for now, I would...but it doesn't allow you, apparently. I'm kinda ticked off at my IT guys because they skipped that warning in the speech they gave to me about it when they wanted me to test it...but there literally isn't anything I can do about it at the moment, so I don't think I want to fume over something I can do nothing about.
