I've installed Maya Unlimited 8.5 64-bit on Fedora 7, CentOS 5 and OpenSUSE 10.2 on a dell Precision 490 Workstation with a G8800gts card.
When trying to import wav files to a scene, I get a libaudiofile.so error and the import fails. I've then followed advice to system link the distro's libaudiofile.so.0 to /usr/autodesk/maya/lib/libaudiofile.so and the import succeeds. I can choose the wav file and press play but no actual sound is heard (and I did choose real-time playback). If I hold down the left mousebutton over the time slider and slide it across I do get sound, albeit it's completely distorted. I've tried 3 different soundcards - the onboard sigmatel, an old-school Creative SB 128 and a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy. Without Success.
On a completely different computer running 32bit maya I managed to get normal playback using a DMX 6fire sound card (ICE1712 chip/driver) - running ubuntu. This computer failed playback on OpenSUSE 10.2 - 64bit.
I've also tried a combination of OSS, threaded OSS, Alsa and Alsa's OSS emulation, with no luck.
Please if you got a solution, a suggestion
or a working setup with maya 64bit in linux i'd like to hear of your configuration!
