Maya Cloth? (2)

I have Maya 4 Unlimited (dont worry, I dont steal it) and I was wandering how to create a curve that is actually closed. I have used different kinds of curves but I can never connect them, I even used grid snapping and that didnt work. Maya always says that It can only create cloth on a closed surface. So how do I create a closed curve for cloth? Thanking anyine in advance of course, Thanks.

If you are following the tutorial in the docs you missed a step. Go back and carefulklt read what it says to do.

You should draw your curves in front/side/top view with grid lock on to be sure that the points at the end of each curve are in contact. You can group and rotate then together to keep them planar. Using Snap to curve helps sometimes. but make always make sure the curves are planar.
Be sure that you dont select other curves than the actual ones you need for each panel too.
Finally, the Maya docs say that the ORDER you SELECT the curves makes no difference as long as they form a closed loop, but I have found this to be untrue - occasionally just changing the selection order of your curves will stop this error occuring.

Cybotic what are you rating about? just use open close curve (usualy works better if you dont actualy draw the last span, and let the open close do it, usualy ingnore is the best option for most work).

Given that we are in the cloth forum, given the thread name is "Maya Cloth?" and given the actual question was "So how do I create a closed curve for cloth? " I assume we're refering to curves which are selected prior to making cloth Panels here...

I'm also assumimg this is the error eminem9144 is dealing with:

If this is the case then what I stated before holds true. It has nothing to do with opening/closing splines themselves. You cannot make a panel from less than two curves anyway, and you cannot use "closed" curves (in the sense to which you refer) in cloth - The "closed loop" is actually a series of two or more curves (on one plane) that meet each other end to end to form the panel outline.

Yeaah ictaualy i got a flash about this whan i started to drive home but thats one way of doing it. You can allway split it up later, however

you can try this also make half of you cloth but the start and end points sould be lying on the y-axis so use snap to grids and put your first vertex then trun it of and continue putting more vertex of your half of cloth and when you reach your last vertex or point what ever you should turn on snap to grid again and put your point on the y axis also like the first one . now you can use Dublicate to dublicate you half curve and and use -1 for the scale x then select both of you curve and know they form closed curve for making your panel.
