"maya.exe Has Encountered A Problem And Needs To Close"

I am using Maya 7.0

After opening a saved file and trying to get a different perspective of the images the program does not respond for a minute before returning an error message "Maya.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." While working on this file Maya was fully functional, but after I saved it and retrieved it I started encountering this issue.

I am using:

AMD Athlon 2000+ CPU
512MB RAM
Nvidia GForce5200

I updated the video driver but I still get the same error.

Why did it work flawlessly right up to the point where I closed the file but then responded with these errors after I reopened it?

id chek my drivers if i were you.

I updated my Nvidia FX5200 drivers but still get the same freezing and error message when trying to change perspective. Is there anyone who is using Maya without any problems through this video card?

New dont equate to best possible choise try different ones. INfact for gamer cards theres allmos certainly better OLDER drivers than the newest one. Wich quite frankly often craps maya more up than a age old one.
