Maya GUI damage after activated XComposite

Hi,

Have you try to activated the xcomposite feature in xorg? i have try install xorg 6.8.2 in mandrake 10.1 with KDE 3.4beta2. and running maya 6.5. but if i activated the composite ability in xorg, maya gui look damage. i don't know, its bug on xorg, or maya or KDE, maybe if somebody knows can contact the developer to report the bug.

i am not sure, but the graphic drivers for x.org are not as good as for XFree 4.x. Specially the 3D implementation is not really stable in x.org (at any rate i know )

And why you want to use that off-screen buffer (xcomposite) and KDE ? I think for maya is a stable and lightweight window manager the best choice (i.e. openbox)

Hi,

i have report this problem in the xorg developer, i they give this solution

run maya with XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUAL=1 in the environment

But.... the problem not resolv sucessfully, maya can transparent right now, and sometimes still get the broken gui.

I only to try how the feature of composite extension works successfully in KDE and Gnome. and right now i still turning off the composite ability.
