are there any products that can translate almost all maya animation to houdini? of particular interest is taking character animation to houdini, materials would be nice but not necessary.

I am not sure that something like that would exist.Ik and everything related is totaly diferent in houdinifrom what my experience. You can probably rig up something with mel to export raw motion data fot say all the effectors in the IK and import that in to houdini via chops .but i would have no idea how to do something like that, i didnt use maya for a very long time and know very little mel.

with houdini, couldn't you sort of fake an IK sover of any type you wanted just by creating the write dataflow?
