Maya PLE keeps on crashing! :(

Hi All,

I am 'trying' to complete the tutorials in 'Instant Maya' but PLE keeps on dying... I get about 30 mins out of it and then death...no blue screen...it just disappers!!!

My PC specs are pretty high:

AMD XP 1900
1024 MB DDR 2700 RAM
nVidia GeForce4 Ti4400
RAID HDD
etc...its pretty powerful...i definitley suspect a software issue..

Has anyone else had these probs??

Has a|W released any patches for PLE???

Its porbably your graphics drivers or some other unstable Hardware drivers (maya is notoriously picky on this), what drivers are you using (note that maya in general doesent like the newest most pushed, slightly buggy performance boosted drivers). The only way of making sure this doesent happen is to only use raly good components (and pay appropriately, with 200$ more you usualy get a much more stable system, note that this might be the problem even if maya is the only app that manifests problems )

Also can you pinpoint what it is that causes the crash IPR render, render wiev zooming panning out of view, hypergraph operations and hypershade perations are all stuff that i know to mess up whan youve got slight instabilities.

My drivers are quite new: ASUSTek 2.3.8.2 for a nVidia Ti4400 (around $300US)

My system has been flawless up until PLE started crashing last night

I dont think it is rendering that is causing the crash...all i was doing when it happened was some very simple NURBS modelling...

Yes well maya does have a tendency of putting your system on itsn knees, sorry, Since i bet youve never used a prog that requires this much from your machine (probably not even close), so i cant say much about the stability of your system.

I cant say anyting on your drivers since im using a wildcat II and some oxygen cards (www.3dlabs.com) at the moment. AW seems to have some gudelines on this but maybe someone else on this forum knows better.

BTW it might be some other driver that causes this like the motherboard bios, agp drivers etc... even the soundcard, r more likley your network card.

Yeah, you're right about never using a program that needs some grunt..the closest ive come is Photoshop7

After the couple of crashes i had last night it have had some very weird icon problems...all my non system icons have been taken over by my flashMX icon !!!

I dont know what the hell has happened...but MAYA PLE is running pretty well now...touch wood!!!
