  i want to know which version of python is compatible with maya

2.4 and up. for maya 8.5 2.5 and up for maya 2008 Tiugh im not sure you rpobably can run lowver versions too if you must.

C modules are as a rule forwards compatible to some degree same holds true to maya.

when i am doing in mel
unifiedRenderGlobalsWindow; //it works

but in puthon
import maya.cmds as cmds
cmds. //i dont know what to write
