I want to put some MEL scripts in folder to organize them (I have a ton!)
So , I have create folders (anim, rig, etc...) and update my maya.env files and the maya_script_path line. But the scripts are "sourced" (at least) read differently that if I put them directly in the script folder.
For exemple if I put all the macaroniKazoo scripts in a folder "zoo" (and update the maya.env file) it doesnt work and some of extern procedures are not reconize...
someone know if there is an issue? (without 'hard' source!)
is it the right env? Does typing getenv MAYA_SCRIPT_PATH say, does it include that folder. Also remember maya does not update ist arrays until you restart or issue rehash, off course the scripts might rely on some other external files.
well, for the zoo script for exemple (but it the same for my own scripts), if I put all the zoo* script in the script folder, I can call the zoo interface by typing "zooToolBox" Who is a proc in a file "zooToolBox.mel.
But If I put this files in a folder, update my env file (getenv MAYA_SCRIPT_PATH = .. or MAYA_SCRIPT_PATH = .. ), zooToolBox command doesnt work.... I MUST source it by hand....
And verify that yoru folder INDEED IS ON THIS LIST, maya does not care whatever you do if it dont get propagatted onto this list maya wont see it (so this list is the last and definite word on the subject). Thing is editting the env file is a bit tricky to explain to you because i cant know if your editting the right env file, or right syntax (see even my home sytem has 8 maya env files! However only one of them is the right one to edit! all other edits are juist vain). If the change is not propagated into here then your editting the worng env file, if its there but dont work right you have wromg syntax.
And no editting the env variable inside maya HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT, becaus eitll get discarded whan you exit, and uness you type rehash as a command inside maya maya wont find the files. (because maya does this chek only ever ONCE during normal startup)
So I have type th egetenv, and yes, all the folder are in the list! It's whats is amazing....
Ok, here whats happend exactly : well, If I put the zooToolBox file who have the zooToolBox in the script folder, I can run it without source, but If I put it on a other folder (folder in the script path list), the script gives me an error that it cant find a proc (zooGetFileLocation). But it fiond the proc if I put it on the original script folder.... it's whats its amazing....
