Mental Ray, Maya 8 Dissapears

Anyone else have this problem? After about a week mental ray vanishes from the render menu options and it wont come back. Kind of annoying and i have no idea how to get it back.

Anyone know how?

yeah why didnt i think about that? i'lll do that when i get out of work. Any idea why it happened?
It happened out of nowhere. No idea why.

nah, no idea. Every once in a while maya just likes to randomly turn off certain plugins. Also if you install certain 3rd party plugins they sometimes like to turn off plugins too.

Out of curiousity what graphics driver version are you running and what graphics card? Also did you auto-install the graphics driver via ZMD/YAST or manually install and configure your driver? One reason for asking is I noticed on SLED Maya 8.0 GUI display issues while using NVIDIA driver version 8762 and 9625 (beta). Though NVIDIA graphics driver 8774 works great. The other reason is if you manually installed and configured your driver ensure if you've recently updated your Linux kernel to run "sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run -K" while logged in as root in "init 3" (run level 3). This is because you need to recompile and install the nvidia kernel module after each kernel update. This is not necessary if you auto-installed the graphics driver from ZMD/YAST.

i dont remember which release of the nv driver it was but i dont use the yast one. It was the newest at the time that i posted thread, compiled for the default suse 10 kernel. I find it odd that it would do that though, i did have some funny issues with it but it hasnt given me anymore problems, except that i still activate mental ray every time i start maya.
