Mesh disappears after Boolean

I've created a mesh using Maya's SubD's and converted it to Polys.

I need to use a boolean operation on it but when I do, the mesh disappears. Any ideas on how to stop this from happening?

This is why I stay away from booleans.

Make sure both meshes are clean and without folds (try doing cleanup on them). I believe it's also good if they are both solid models (no holes). But I'm no expert on booleans...

I've had this issue with polys that are light when booleaned with objects that are heavy..
Its relyl freaken ANNOYING acualy.

I know. I avoid them like the plague. Nothing beats the good old splitting method.

The short list theres a huge one in the archives somewhere, search deep 1 year old id say...

  • Check norrmals (they must be consistent, use conform, and their direction)
  • Check for nonmanifold surfaces.
  • Check for holes (confuses the algorithm)
  • [li]Check history (might confuse never noticed tough)

There was some other things too cant remember tough! Should fix 99% of cases.

    forgot:

[/li][li]Use closed surfaces when apropriate, works better.
[/li][li]Make sure there isnt invisible, polygon gaps (merge vertices and edges first).[/li]
