Hi guys,

Is it possible to replace an existing mesh in motionbuilder with an updated one? To cut a long story short, I already have a fully characterised model, control rigged, with various effectors set up. I've now recieved a new mesh that deforms differently, & just want to replace the old with the new. There has been no change to the hierachy. It would be a five minute task in maya ( using using like comet) but I cant seem to find any way of doing it in MB.

If not, is it possible to transfer the control rig ( inc effectors, etc) to a new model so I dont have to do everything again? I know I can export the character template, but I'm assuming this wont transfer the various connections that have been set-up in the schematic view.

any help would be great, I'm out of ideas

Theoretically, if the mesh has the same name and uses the same skeleton, it should merge right in replacing the old one. If the name is different you may have to delete the old mesh. If the Maya model you are using has the exact same skeleton as the older one, you should be able to just merge the entire model right into the mobu file. Make sure you have the merge settings set to "merge" and not "append" to.
