-If you where to look at your rotation axises in a mirror, thats what they would look like, the function works correct it just gives you mirrored Values... I f you want the value the same you have to flip the axises on the mirrored surface twice in the down joint direction 180, and in the up axis 180
-I know you think it should be different when you mirror but it does work right as mirror, and if you are planning or do most of your editing in the channel box or with sliders maos's method works well, also scripts work well for making the adjustment on a mirror as also suggested.
-another method is to mirro and then create the mirrored joints over with the same setting you made to create the originals but use point snap so they lie over the mirrors perfect then delete the mirrored,
-I agree a simple opposite or negative mirror command would be great instead of just mirror...
-As for myself I just mirror and snap joints to the mirror and get rid of it, makes it so you don't have to deal with anything going wrong trying to change it or use a script.
