ok my problem is that i have a reasonably complex rig (a human with fkik) and i am trying to copy the arm and leg to the otherside because it would take forever to redo it all for the other side. I have tried importing the arm and leg alone (pratically the same as duplicating) and scaling across, this causes major problems because it messes with the rotates (rotate it one way and it goes the other). I tried rotating the LRAs but then the skinning arm and the ikarm were no longer in sync, which i dont understand since i did the same for both. Please tell me if you have any suggestions, thanks
There's no way to duplicate a rig over an axis. The whole rotations are flipped when you mirror everything. Also the jointOrientation are flipped to have a mirror behaviour. So the only way is to rebuild the whole stuff for the other side. A good way to go fast, is to script everything and so you can apply as many rigs on any side as you want!
Good luck,
Carlo

Well there is, it depends highly on your rig, yes offcourse rotations on yhe right side are opposite of rotations on the left but its still possible to do some limitted mirroring, just bones is easy, even driven keys and direct connections are relatively easy as long as they are not connected to myriad of things at one time, even expressions can be manageble. But then theres the myriad of unimaginable connections you could make. Ultimately tough as you say the maker of the rig has to figure this out himself.
Why? Because while i could easily miroor any of the basic rigs found on download, i would also fail miserably on half of them and never ever survive the experience of my own rigs unless ive specialy tailored the mirror for them. Theres just way too much going on.
