Modeling A Wrench

Okay, first off, I posted in the New User subforum because I'm a noob at modeling. I can't make a wrench and this sucks.

^^ example of some of my previous work.

Can somebody help me make a wrench please? I'd be extremely grateful.

P.S. I did the Maya tutorial on modeling a hammer with a problem and it worked fine, so I understand the various Polygon tools. Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. Get an image of a wrench
2.Put it on an image plane
3.Use create polygon to trace the contours of the two parts of the wrench
4.Use extrude face to extrude your contours (Make sure "keep faces together" is active)
    5.Fine tuning!

That

Excellent idea, I'll give it a shot and post back--thanks.

I must be tired but I SOOO thought this topic was called "Modeling a Wench"...haha I was like...ah good stuff...

i dont think that can be decribed with 5 steps...

Ofcourse fine tuning covers allmost everything in exsistence.

Can anybody emphasize a little bit on Step #3?

Yeah, best bet to get started is to get a picture of the wrench off the wrench itself because you're going to want to have a wrench to look at...put it in maya as an image place and get the general proportions by modeling the outline with some polygons, maybe off a cube would be the best bet.

Yes, I understand the image plane...

Are you guys saying that I should put a bunch of polygons together for all of the parts of it and merge it together to create one polygon?

i think they are saying do one polygon for each separate piecs outline!

Yes, that
