Hey guys, I have 2 quick questions and would be glad if you could help me out.
I'm modeling a PS3 so for the top surface of the PS3 I made a CV Curve , duplicated it and then lofted the 2. Then I click on the CV curve and its duplicate and used the "planar" tool on them to cap them off. Anyways, if you have ever seen a PS3, there is an area (where you insert the disc) that goes in. So i'm trying to use boolean-difference to take out a piece of the lofted PS3. Here is an image of the PS3:
Im trying to put the Playstation 3 (in spiderman3 font) on top of the PS3. So I downloaded the Spiderman font and used the text function on Maya to write it(ps3Text). So now I have the ps3Text selected and I want to project it onto the curved PS3 hull so that I can extrude the letters and have them be curved on top of the PS3 body perfectly. And please don't tell me to just use a texture, because I want to do it as a geometry rather than just a texture. I know there was a way to do it in 3dsMax (because I did it when I used to use it) but I'm new to maya and am still trying to get the hang of it. Here is an image of the surface and text:
You really cant cut polygons without haveing even mroe problems than you began with. Use nurbs!
