A dumb question maybe...I have been poly modelling humans--and started getting serious with rigging--just want to do some generic rigged characters for a portfolio. I have been modelling the face with the lips shut--as in they are separate when I sculpt them--but I overlap the upper and lower lip mesh edges slightly because when I smooth(especially with sub d's) the mouth tends to look parted unless I move the mesh lip vertices into each other quite a bit. Seems kind of ghostly and its the only place where the mesh overlaps--but I dont know of another way to do it-and I like having the mouth closed.
For rigging(and maybe UV mapping), do you leave them slightly apart? I also ask this as it relates to zbrush--since I have been starting to use that for detailing--and when I export a closed mouth character I find it difficult to detail with the lips-they seem fused-and then I read warning about having no overlapping UVs--would the intertwined lips be an example of that?
Just wondering how others approach this.
Thanks
