Hey everybody
I have this question here:
I have rendered maya's scene in layers, and i need one of objects in the scene to have motion blur. So i render it in separate layer and with alpha channel. What i have now i a sequence of images where you can see only that object moving(and it has alpha channel). Is there any way to create motion blur effect on this? I know that simply clicking the motion blur button will not work...is there any other method? Because maya's mental ray renderer renders motion blur for AGES
thx
Yep, Reel Smart Motion Blur is a fantastic moblur solution, and works particularly well if you have your elements rendered in layers in the way you describe.
However, just for the record in most cases you should be able to get motion blur to render out of Maya or MR in reasonable times. With MR in particular a lot depends on the many tweakable settings that are available. Be sure to only use the type of blur that your shot needs. For example, don't use component-level blurring if object level blurring is all you need.
