Motion Pathh Error ..translatex Has Incoming Connection

ok this is wat i did

i made a sphere i made it active rigid body and added some value to its spin impulse y. i want it to spin about y axis.
now i have a circular path...now i want this sphere to spin abt its y axis and move along the path

so when i select the sphere and then shift selct the path and try to attach to motin path...it gives me translatex has incoming connection

can anyone tell me where i m going wrong...plz help

in general you don't want to connect the same object to too many things; parent the sphere under an empty group (a null), make THAT into a rigid body, then parent that under another null, attach THAT to motion path. IT allows you to control everything seperately.
Try not to do anything to your actual objects as a general rule. that way you can change them / swap them out later / etc.,

Rigid body is kinda roundabout way to animate rotation...

yes that too, I assume there's other reasons why it has to be a rigid body...

i was able to attach it to the path by the method u said...but its not moving on tht path...it just keeps rotating about y axis due to the spin... how do i get it to move on the path?

because it is still running dynamic simulation. bake simulation, then parent under locator and animate locator itself or attach it to a motion path.
