I'm trying to learn how to use Maya and I've been building a car recently, which I now wish to import into another scene moving down the road. The problem I have is that when I try to move the car all of the different pieces move at different speeds and so looks a complete mess and nothing like a car at the end of it.. I'm probably missing something really silly here like pressing a "join pieces together" button or something.. I have no idea though as the buttons I tried randomly all came up with errors of one form or another!!
Select all the pieces you want to move together and press Ctrl-g or Edit->Group. This command groups the selected objects. If all the objects are polygonal, you can also select them and Mesh->Combine. Hope that helps!
Thank you! The grouping made it carry on doing the same but I converted everything to a polygon and combined them.. I knew there must have been something simple! Thank you so much
Grouping did the same because probobly you selected not the group but just all the objects before animating. To select the group you have to use outliner.
