Moving pivot point without 'moving' layer

I am pretty unexperienced with Combustion, so this may be a very simple
(=stupid) question.

I want to move the pivot point of a layer so the image (the arm of a
character) does not rotate about its center. That part works fine. But when
I scale down the image before moving it's pivot point I got problems. The
whole layer moves when moving the pivot point (I use the pivot point tool).

Are there any ways to move the pivot point without 'moving' the whole layer,
while the layer is scaled?

• Actually the position values stays the same, but anyhow the image moves???

Remember the pivot point of a layer exists in a 3D space. So by just adusting those properties of a pivot point the layer will move.

The only drawback with the pivot point is that you CANNOT animate it over time if you need to.

Heres a Tip.....

If I want to animate the axis/pivot of a layer, I create a "Null Object" and parent the Layer to the "Null Object". The null object now acts as the pivot for the layer and by animating the nul bject, you can achieve your effect AND animate it....
