Can someone out there steer me in the right direction with something? I have a client that wants a "Mr. Fantastic" arm stretch effect like on the Fantastic Four. He wants the subject to extend his arm with what looks like ten feet up to a bill board to grab and resize a graphic with his hands. Is Shake all I need to do something like that? I have total contol over shooting the footage and just need to know if I can strech the arm portion using morph or other controls in Shake.
I would appreciate someone steering me in the right direction. Would also love any reference to literature on video distortion effects like the one above.
Thank you!
Bill H.
You could probably do it with a warp but you'll get better results and more control if you do it with 3d. Just stretching the arm will also stretch the specular highlights, etc - all that environmental stuff that effects the arm but wouldn't actually stretch with it. Plus you can only warp so far before your image will degrade. Use 3d, provide good track reference for the end of the arm to be replaced, get a good matching clean plate I'd say.

Thanks Jon, I'll give the 3d node a shot!

i rather suspect he meant 3D as in "build the arm in maya"..then again, i know very little about things 3D++ christoph ++
YEs sorry, should have made myself more clear - you'll likely need to build the arm with a 3d program...
