Is the mudbox forum down or something? I get the "We're sorry, but something went wrong." CC notice.
Anyways, my actual question is about maps from Mudbox to Maya, I know that this is the maya board and its a mudbox question but since I can
t seem to access that forum I`m going to ask here.
Alright, so I made a high-poly model in Mudbox and I've gone through my mentor's tutorials and I can't seem to get my high res model baked onto my low-res model properly in maya. Basically, any map I try putting into displacement gives me a ballooning effect on my model, and seems have a strange inverted poly seem.. I don`t need as much as an answer to a question as much as I just need tips in the direction of getting the contours of my high detailed model onto the low res cage without the seems looking extruded.
So really I need to know; What map goes into the displacement? What map goes into the bump-map? What search distance should I be using?
So far I've had the best results with the normal map in the displacement area, because the displacement map gives me this weird ballooning effect and extrudes at the seems - but the displacement map is giving the proper curvature and detail to the low-res cage otherwise. Please help.
