i can't seem to create a poly smooth node with anything but the default name (polySmoothFace1).
i've thrown in the -n flag but that doesn't seem to be doing anything. i'm using Maya 7.0.1
QUOTE
polySmooth -n pr_headSMOOTH -mth 0 -dv 1 -c 1 -kb 1 -ksb 1 -khe 0 -kt 1 -kmb 1 -suv 1 -sl 1 -dpe 1 -ps 0.1 -ro 1 -ch 1 pr_head;
any suggestions?

Hwy will-
are you attempting to create this node without connections.. ie by itself and not connected to a mesh? If not, when you create the polysmooth node, it will create a string array, you can then rename the appropriate node.
For instance: ( psuedo code)
CODE
$polySmooth = polysmooth -blah -blah -blah meshNameHere;
print $polySmooth;
//result :: polySmooth1
$newPolySmoothName = rename $polySmooth mySmoothName;
select -r $newPolySmoothName;
Hope that Helps

yes, but why does the "-name" flag exist within the polySmooth node if it is to be totally ignored?
Because someone was making this flag whan he decided to go to lunch, then something else came up and he forgot all about it.
it happens.
