Navigation Issues!

Brief Statement:
Im a newb and Im having problems with the navigations. I got the Maya student edition so I didnt get any instruction booklets and I looked everywhere to try to figure this probem out.

The Problem!:
All the sudden the sensitivity in which I zoom has increased. So when I move my center mouse button up once or down once, it zooms in 3x faster then what it usually should zoom in(I slightly move my mouse roller up and it zooms in too fast!). Also my rolling tool (alt - left click) has changed. Instead it drags the scene! (Alt - middle click is suppose to drag the scene not alt - left click) That as well moves 3x faster then usually. Basically everything in prespective view moves way! too! fast and I need to slow it down. How!

Final Thought!
Tutorials teach about Navigation essentials, but they also need to teach about the sensitivity!!!!!!!!

Yes you do you get the exact same resources as the rest of us. choose Help -> Maya Help

Anyway dont use mousewheel for scrolling disable it form prefs and learnb to use the schrollwheela as a button. While you can adjust the sensitivity. THsi solution is better for your hands, on the long run. (get a 3 button mouse in maya you need the 3rd button anyway. plus scrolling with mouse works even without a scrollwheel in most if not all apps (better in fact).

The other problem sounds like youve made your mosue lefthanded. Chek yoru mousedriver/windws prefs. Incidentaly changes in scrollspeed aslo affects the sinsitivity.

This problem occur during the time I was using it. Ive been using it for about a week and it just now Happened. I know it's not my mouse sensitivity because my mouse works fine when Im not using Maya. HELL It works fine When Im In maya. Only time I notice that the mouse is extremely sensitive is when I zoom in and out or roll over. I immediatly took notice of the problem when it occured. And I did nothing to the settings. I was simply applying textures at the time!

         

                               I can't Imagine that I changed my mouse drivers all the sudden while I was Making a interior area in a buiding.  I know I have resources just like everyone else but if you can find this issue in the books, let me know.

Its just that theres NO WAY you can cnfgure maya to change the button orders in alt click combos (its been tried over and over again by hunders and hundreds of people). Wich leads me to belive its a mousedirver issue. And somethinsgs like intellimouse (intellimouse is easpecialy problematic with amya) and companies can updatte as part of windows settings and they can have differnet settings for differnt apps.

But yeah you can adjust the sensitivity in maya, choose viewport view -> camera tools -> zoom tool -> (options)

I wish you guys can see this. Its going Wacko!!! lol. Now my left click button adjust my view range. Then shortly after it changed to just rotating my camera upside down and back around again. Its going out of control!!!! My shift button is no longer a select all button. it now turns my cursor into a zoom in and and zoom out button.

If this helps any, my cursor is now a Anchor icon

Now I dont have to press alt-leftmouse. Now all i have to do is press left mouse and it tumbles. The tumble cursor stays on. This is getting out of hand, Im guess its probably some kinda corruption.

Now that like your tools are reprogrammed Anyway the alt modifers cant realy be overridden. Tools can.

Clear your prefs. And your scripts.

But this still can be a mouse settings thing, its a classical practical joke. SINCE most mosues clics can eb programmed into anything. Ive seen poeple think programs are broken whan their mousedrivers were set totraly out the dooe (and the coolest thing about his parctical joke is to set the mouse to behave wrong only to ONE application and leave rest as normal and they never knew what hit them), another cool trick is to take a snapshot of the desktop, kill explorer and put the snapshot as bg picture.

Try selecting a box around your object.

The results will change and you can use the perspective camera much more accurately.
