Ncloth As Pliable Wall?

Hi, I' m new to animating and I have quite ambitious first project.
I need to create the effect of the fish sticking out of the wall, by pushing the surface of the wall out with its shape. The wall would have a thick paint like property. The fish model would only be visible through the imprint in the wall.

So far I have made a model and animated it, and now I'm experimenting with the n cloth. Ncloth seams to have characteristics of its own that I'm not successfully overcoming. Does anyone have any helpful advices?

If you want the impression to stay in the cloth then lower the angle and tension of restitution. Otherwise try lowering the stretch/compression resistance.
