@@@@Can you open older versions of Softimage extreme files into Softimagexsi v.2. I have files from older versions of softimage 3D extreme and i will like to import them or open them into xsi.
Yes you can. The SI3D scene file format hasn't changed much since 1993. In fact, I recently opened a scene saved in Creative Environment v2.62 and it all came into XSI cleanly except for the Meta Clay.
Be warned that there's much to be desired about the XSI SI3D importer, so if you can do a little house cleaning to your SI3D scene beforehand, it will go a long way to keeping it intact when it gets to XSI. There's a guide included in the XSI manuals that describes what imports cleanly and what doesn't. The big worries are shape animation, trimmed NURBS, patches as envelopes, instances, custom shaders, meta clay, and a few other things.
