just use one constraint with two hands as influences; then just fiddle with target weights - e.g., you got weights "left hand" and "right hand", then setting weights 100 and 0 will put weapon in left hand, and 0, 100 will put into right hand.
i did try that and it works but i want to have a third option which is to let the sword animate by itself, unattached to both hand or waist
when i set both weights to 0, it still reminds stuck to its original position
