Hello,

Just signed on, great site.

Looking to build my own workstation,

with a Pentium 4 3.0GHz Prescott Skt478 FSB800 1MB Cache.

Powet supply about 550w

Motherboard I have been looking at Gigabyte, but any reccomendation would help.

Fans not yet decided

But the big question as I am sure has been asked a number of times is graphics cards?

Oh money is tight, so about 190USD or 100 pounds
for card,

HD I was looking at about 80Gig and taking the 20 Gig out of my old PC.

monitor I already have, along with CD/DVD buner etc.

I use Photoshop alot home and work but would like to dabble in 3D.

Anybody with any input would be great.

kind regards

since you are using Intel 478 pin CPU, I would recommend genuine Intel MB. either D865PERL or D875PBZLK mb.

Intel MB come with much better warranty.

BUT, if you haven't purchased the processor and video card yet. I would definetely recommend going with new 775-pin P4 CPU and MB. they cost about the same.
I would recommend MB like Intel D915PGN mb: http://support.intel.com/design/motherbd/gn/index.htm
or D915GAV

Intel MB costs about the same, and is of much better quality and warranty. these MB will also take PCI Express video card only. They have better audio, sata raid functionality than the old 865/875 chipset mb.
