Am new to 3ds max. My background is in Fine Art, I've used Photoshop extensively, and have a working knowledge of Premiere etc.. I've sat through Chads video tutorial twice, but haven't picked up on anything to help me move the small sample animations I've made from Max into a form that I can further edit in After Effects. I have managed to save them as avi's but they show up tiny even at fullscreen, and unlike the image rendered from Max's viewport (with a black background), my avi's show up on grey, complete with the 'wire' box around a particle effect in one of them. My intention is to present my animation in the form of a large scale projection, so if I could do that straight from Max it's save a lot of faffing around, but I understand that's not possible(?) If anyone out there can spare the time to enlighten me, or point me in the direction of other tutorials that would explain what I need to do to achieve a simple animation on a black ground, I'd be very grateful. Thanks, Lib ![]()
The background is black in max when you render it out? Hmmm.... I'm not sure what software you have available to you, but you could render the scene to .TGA files, put them back together in Premier (I just re-read your post, you must have access to this software). I'm not sure how new to max you are, what is the resoloution you want these to be rendered to? Do you know how to choose the res when rendering?
But my stab at it would be to render to Targa (.TGA) files, put them back together in Premier, import that avi into after effects and see if it has any difference. If spending money is no problem, you can always go to boomerlabs.com and check out their Max2AE plugin, it allows you to work seemlessly between 3DSMAX and After Effects...
