sorry that this is soo basic, but I'm running through my 30 day trial of XSI and have completed all of the tutorials which come with it. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover this topic.
I have used the dotXSI plugin to import a model from 3dsmax, but when it comes into xsi, I need to re-do all of the materials. Unfortunately, it appears that I have hundreds (if not thousands) of materials / shaders. What I want to do, is remove these and on an area, such as some wheels (i have 10) apply one shader, which is used on all of them.
Firstly, how do I remove unwanted shaders - I've explored the scene with an explorer window and can't find them - i deleted some out of the polymesh group at the top of the tree, but it still appears that my shaders are still in the scene.
Secondly, how do I assign a shader from within the rendertree to a selected piece of geometry in an ortho or camera view?
Cheers for any help!
Matt.
