No Sound With Playblast (using .wav Files)

I',m using Maya 2008 Ext 2 x64, on a quadcore with Win XP x64. I've installed VLC (as it has pretty much all codecs included) but in playblast options i don't get the codec compression options and when i do playblast (e.g with Microsoft Video 1) and open in Media Player there is no sound (plus VLC doesn't even display an image).

The Maya help file says-
Movieplayer (Windows only)

If on, Playblast uses the desktop video playback application specified in your Windows environment to view the Playblasted images.

I've changed the 'path' variable to Media Player but still no sound. Any idea why?

OK, i figured out the path stuff. Actually, i think a lot of the problem was that i was cancelling the playblast before it finished. The sound works when it completes properly.
