I am trying to create normal maps (or even displacement maps) that i want to render in mentalray. I followed tutorials and such and however i keep getting weird results. I dont think it has to do with what i'm doing in maya, but rather my my normal maps or displacement maps seem to be very blocky. For example, i made a girl with 4 level of subdivision. in the higest level u can see her hair but in the flow version the hair has no detail. i make a normal map and render it in mentalray. I can see the higgh details such as teh hair but everything is blocky. I tried uping the resolution of the map and using smooth uvs, but nothing is working. any solotions?
