I've just stumbled upon the fact that there isn't a way in Maya to project a tangent space normal map onto geometry. e.g. using tri-planar. I think this is possible using UVmap projection in MAX so Im sure there is a way in Maya but i've not found a solution yet.
Anyone know how to do this? Having to downgrade my projections using regular bump maps instead of normal maps until then.
