Okay, so I'm primarily a poly modeler who needs to brush up on his Nurbs skills. I find Nurbs really frustrating for a variety of reasons, but none more so than the fact that the CVs float above the surface of the model instead of on it. In curves there are two modes CV, which does the exact same thing...
... but then there is EP, in which the curve passes directly through the points... I find this to be a much easier way to manipulate. Is there a way to get a Nurbs object to create in EP mode instead of CV? Or a way to reduce the offset distance of the CV go get them closer to the objects surface?
Some of my felllow modelers claim it is much faster for them to model a character with Nurbs but I don't see it. I can easily spend several minutes on one section of my model just hunting for the right CVs! Hulls can only clear things up so much... Any suggestions?
