hey guys..this has been plauing me for quite some time. i tried looking for some info on this before i posted, but no luck
.
here is my dilemma.
i am modelling a sniper rifle for a modelling competition. now the handle of the sniper rifle is quite ergonomic/organic. i build the handle using a nurbs cylinder. of course i had to adjust isoparms for the creation of this handle. so the distance between the isoparms is not consistent. this of course leads to texture stretching.
so the next step i tried was to rebuild the surface so that it would create even isoparms. once the handle was rebuilt, i applied the texture to the handle, and the same texture stretching occurs.
i then tried converting the original handle to polygons and applied the texture...same thing. is there any way for me to apply the texture correctly? i thought the rebuild function would even out the texture uv's.
the last resort is using the polygon texturing tools to texture the handle. however i really dont want to go that route because the texture on the handle is a crosshatched grip, and to try and line that up is going to be pure hell
