Ocean Foamy Wake

Hi there

I have a large slow moving ship moving through a large scale ocean, but i'm having problems:

1) getting the wake to stick close to the boat (think cruise ship)
2) getting the wake to keep its white foam on the crests of the wake.

this is basically the type of wake i'm looking for.

as it is. my foam is only leaving a trail down the centre of my boats path and the wake is spreading out from the boat's hull without any foam.. =[

if you guys have any suggestions or if theres other posts that might help, i would greatly appreciate it!

A first thing to try is to lower the simulation rate scale on the wake fluid texture because the default is way to fast for the ocean scale. This will create more of a skinny v wake shape. The wake foam emission ignores the wave height, but you may be able to get the look you want by adding multiple fluid emitters to the wake and foam fluids. (there are a separate fluid textures for the foam and wake.. the wake uses density emission and the foam heat emission) Small sphere volume fluid emitters placed at the bow and stern corners can work well. You may wish to play with the turbulence attributes on the foam fluid to get the desired fine detail and motion. Also it helps to turn off jitter on fluid emitters you create for ocean wakes.
