Well, a shore or beach is really tricky. Maya fluid ocean do not support the back waves because it is not dynamic but procedural displacement. You can try to add a wave emitter and keyframe or drive it by expression to send back waves, but that will probably not work well.
Don't even try to do it in one maya render that will be a sweet dream
try many passes that you can cheat in comp.
You also have the realflow solution with his realwave part, you can create an ocean displacement as well as maya ocean, and you will have shore interaction and even particles emit on the beach nicely sliding.
it is more easy that in maya.
