Offset extrusion

the offset setting in MAYA is, while you extrude a poylgon from a polygon face, u can set offset value to the outcome object so that the extrude object can enlarge or "nozzle", i use this function to create the chamfer edge of the outcome object.......... i hope you can understand my poor english.... "~!

i guess softimage 3D doesn't have this useful feature. I am not sure.

This can certainly be done. The main tools are:

Model > Duplicate > repetition (for straight extrusions)
Model > Surface > Extrusion (along curves)

See the Modelling user's guide pages 183-189. There are several examples.
