Open Suse 11 And A Few Problems:

Hello folks

I just installed Open Suse 11, 64 bit on my HP laptop, and I am facing almost every possible problem, any help is really appreciated:

1- the wireless doesn't get connected, I am using a static IP with a default gateway and a dns server on Windows side, but the same information on the linux side doesn't get me anywhere. it gives me different errors, such as:
"Will never start"
"no hwinfo"
and sometimes it says it is connected but i can't connect anywhere
I get my internet through a router which is my default gateway, is it possible that my wireless card isn't actully installed, it's a broadcam 802.11

2- when i try to install Maya i get
error: can't creat transaction lock on / var/ lib/ rpm / __db.000
what does that mean?

that means you have another program accessing your rpm package database (ie. the Gnome autoupdater etc.).
Try and
ps aux|grep -i y2
and killall -9 y2base* (or anything that has the y2 string).

try and use non gnome/kde window manager untill you set everything up because their "automation" very often doesn't help at all.
