Hi, putting together as fast a workstaion as possible for C*. Current config is;
Dual 1900 or 2000 Athlon MP
4 GIGs 266 DDR
Either FireGl4 or WildCat 5110 (which has faster 2D?)
15K RPM SCSI Raid OR Quad-Chabnnel 7500k RPM IDE Raid
Since C* does not stream video for playback, how much is the extra cost of the faster spindle/read/write of the SCSI array going to buy me in oridnary C* operations? I can't see a huge difference with 4GIGs RAM to hold project/app etc. except if I am playing back a cli[p from RAM and making changes on the fly?
Any real-world advice for the optimum disk set-up, price no consideration but would just as soon put the bank into storage instead of wasted speed?
Thanks for any input!
P.S. Any thoughts on flatpanel LCDs? Heard they are not great for video-graphics, but the thought of having dual-monitors where one doubles as a tablet that I can actually draw and roto on is very appealing.
