Output File Name Without Extension- Text Node

Howdy,

I'm working on a slate generator using the Text node.
So far from the RTFM/other posts I have:
frame: [frame]
name: [file tail [value Read1.file]]
date: [date %x]
frame range: [frames first]-[frames last]

Now with the - name: [file tail [value Read1.file]], I get something like this:
shotname.00001.dpx

All I want is the shotname, no #'s or extension.
Also if anyone knows the all of the cool text commands please post as well.

try [file tail [file rootname [value Read1.file]]]

Ok the rootname still gave me the #'s:
shotname.00001
On a positive it did remove the extension.

I played a bit more after checking your link, and I tried this:
[file tail [filename [value Read1.file]]]

This outputs:
shotname"
Not sure where the Quotation marks are coming from, but this is the closest I have gotten...

you could split the remaining name by ".", then use the first element in the resulting list:
set f [file tail [file rootname [value Read1.file]]]
lindex [split $f "."] 0

I may not be adding the code correctly but I get an error:
can't read "f": no such variable.

I tried modifying it a bit, but no luck.

f is the variable I set in the first line:

CODE
set f [file tail [file rootname [value Read1.file]]]

after that $f holds your file name without the extension. So if you need to further take it apart (i.e. only use the chunks between the dots), you use the split command which returns the a list, and then you grab the first element (index 0) from that which is what this is doing:
CODE
lindex [split $f "."] 0

Ok, with a little help from a friend here is another work around:
[string trimright [file tail [filename [value Read1.file]]] "\"" ]
