Output the same movie in several parts?

hi everyone~
I want to outmy movie (2 min) into AVI without any compression (for future compress into mpeg with Xing). but the size of it is too big (> 2G), my harddisk doesn't have such space, can AE output the movie in MPG format, or can it divide the movie into several part, then compress again to form a whole moive in Xing??

reading your other posts it MIGHT be best to go get an AE book from the store..or read a manual .
If you do you'll see that you questions are...well, not to be rude..but really just ...odd.....

that's certainly i've read books before asking question, but my question seems doesn't appear on my book~

1-If you are running NT you should install service pack 6.
2-As for splitting the project up, you have to manually set the render settings for your frame ranges for the two segments.
3-Now, I'm not sure if XING lets you bring in two avi's and join & compress them.
4-Keeping the file as a whole, you should try compressing with one of the codecs (like Microsoft Video 1 with the settings and quality as high as it goes) that just knocks the file down enough (size wise) for you to be able to take it into XING for an mpeg output.

the method 4 is work, but....... the will the movie quailty decrese seriously thorugh 2 times compression? becuase there are some words in my movie and i use Intel Indeo to compress it with 100% qulity, the words are still mess together......... will it?

Intel Indeo is prety bad comprestion.. I would try Aniamtion or sorenson .
Or evenNTSC DV isn't bad at alland is a lot smaller than an uncompressed movie. I would suggest getting more drive space really..

i just dont get it.. if your rendering your movie for FUTURE compression, why do you want to render it into a movie format to begin with.. if your render breaks or cuts out in the middle you have to start over again. just render out your movie as a sequential image files.. digital video - imagary is very space intensive so you need to get some more room. ata drives are very cheap now.. i just bought a 42 gig ibm for 150.00. Hook it up dude...

p.s. buy "adobe classroom in a book." It'll save you hours of posts...

1-Is the machine stopping the render when you reach 2gig or is your drive only 2gig?
2-if your machine is crashing as your file hits the 2gig mark that means you need service pack 6.
3-You may have to test run a couple of the compressors to find the best one for you animation. Keep in mind you are going to compress your file, so you're not going for broadcast clean unnoticeable compression out of AE.
4-If you don't want any visible compression at all, then, as noted from one of the posters, render your project out to sequential stills and then import to xing.

I've solved my problem in another method - by compress the movie by Intel Indeo, although the quailty is err.rrr... but, my teachers still accept it. haa thanks all of your suggestion! but I think I really need to buy a bigger harddisk to store the movie in future!!!~~

In the ouput preferences you can force the renderer to break the movie up into segments as well as define other drives for it to render to if it runs outof space.
