Parent Attribute Exists?

Hey all,

Long story short, I'm a total Maya idiot whose trying to do a few things using a MEL script. I was wondering if there was an attribute for the current node's parent. I've got a callback system (going to something outside of Maya) that can pick up changes done to attributes and I'd like to get a callback when a node gets a new parent (or has a parent removed).

Does something like a parent attribute exist?

No, but you can listen to parentMatrix. However its not entirely sane to use scriptjobs for this kind of communication so, could you describe what exactly you are doing then maybe we can hep help substantially.

you could also ask for:
CODE
listRelatives -parent $yourNode;

yes but he wants a event when parent is changed. But yes this is a imh a a api job. Even so its not necceserily a a optimal way to do this.
